Hazel is by far the best vocal tutor I have had the pleasure of working with. Hazel's extensive knowledge of the music industry and more specifically vocals, together with her passion and enthusiasm for teaching is a real pleasure. I feel that every lesson with Hazel is tailored to my ability as Hazel helps improve my confidence and skill in singing. Thank you Hazel for all your help so far!

Steve C, lead vocalist for The Harmonix.

I started taking lessons with Hazel exactly a year ago, and I cannot express how glad I am that I did. The singing lessons I am taking every week allowed me not only to develop as a singer, to expand my vocal range, get familiar with my voice and what it is capable of doing, but also to develop as a person. Hazel has a highly professional attitude as well as great teaching techniques, but not only that, her friendly character and deeper understanding of singing in connection with the personality of the singer changed my way of thinking completely and allowed me to gain a lot more confidence in my voice and my performance. My family, friends and even previous singing teachers have noticed the progress I made, and, most importantly, I can see the change myself. I am enjoying the singing lessons with Hazel very much and I could not recommend it enough, if you are thinking of starting do not hesitate, you will have a great time.

Would you like to learn a vocal technique to increase your range and power, while staying healthy and within your own unique sound and style?

I am a certified Contemporary Vocal Instructor, and have been trained by many of the big name world leading coaches and current pioneers in the field of vocal science. I also use holistic and universally accessible frameworks to help you to safely-

Find Your Voice, Set It Free!

A five session course will introduce you to all the basics you need to get started singing, including:

  • Warming up the voice & singing safely

  • Posture & breathing

  • Vowels & consonants

  • Understanding the different gears of your voice

  • Repertoire & performance

Although my background lies in RnB, Jazz, Soul, Gospel, Pop, Latin, Country, & a little Classical singing, I teach a contemporary vocal technique that is applicable to all styles and genres of music, and to all accents and languages. It is non elitist and accessible to all so you don’t need any previous musical training to take voice lessons.

When we talk about finding our authentic voice,

it means far more than just our singing or speaking voice as an artist, but rather our voice as a person, in the context of our life, on that day, and in that moment. The voice is not separate from the person and how they feel, and to trust your voice is to trust your self expression, your inspiration, your perspectives and ideas, to be in the present moment, to be in the creative flow.

Trusting in a solid foundation of vocal technique,

gives us that opportunity to be in the zone creatively. We remain inspired when we can make our melodic and stylistic choices freely, rather than choosing a style, range of notes and repertoire based on our vocal limitations.

I Can Help You:

  • Prepare for auditions, touring, recording, and with all aspects of troubleshooting your voice and performance.

  • Master your mix and belt voice, eliminate breaks and cracks, conquor the passagio.

  • To understand how your voice is created on a technical level and to balance and coordinate each mechanical component.

  • To understand how your voice is created on an emotional cultural and social level and to access previously unexpressed parts of your unique voice and personality.

  • To learn a repertoire of songs expressing different characters and emotions in different styles and genres.

  • To understand and optimize your breathing mechanism and posture.

  • To shape your vowels and consonants to achieve the full consistent reliable voice you want, and to move with ease through and increase your range of pitch and dynamics.

  • To express yourself more freely, develop your performance skills, as well as your clarity in communicating to others with authenticity and effectiveness in business and personal relationships.

  • To use voice as a meditative practise of being in your body, in the present moment, and inspired.

  • To use regular practise of vocal exercises and songs as a profound therapeutic and life changing tool, to increase your happiness and confidence in both your voice and your self as a person.Singing, What, Why, and How?
  • You have this desire to sing, but have you considered what really drives it? Is it wanting to feel confident to really connect with other people through your art and your voice, to share your experience and identity, to be comfortable expressing your genuine uninhibited self without fear of rejection? To feel that your creative ideas are valid and acceptable, wanted, and needed in the world, wonderful, beautiful or powerful even? Is it to find out whether your own voice is worth being heard? Do you feel the frustration of knowing that there is an expressive voice within you striving to get out, but feel that something is always holding you back? Thankfully there is a rich heritage of vocal arts and pedagogy we can draw upon in our quest for self realisation, personal and artistic fulfilment. Modern technology continues to rapidly advance our understanding of voice, vocal anatomy, practical acoustics formants and harmonics. This wealth of information and experience is now more accessible than ever before, and using it as the basis of our vocal technique, we can go a long way to overcome technical obstacles and artistic boundaries. Through repetition of vocal scales, vocal, physical, and aural exercises, we can program the mind and body to learn and habitualise both consciously and subconsciously, a productive and healthy vocal coordination, to give us the full range of vocal tones, sounds pitch and dynamics that we want. Through clear intention, positive affirmation, and experimentation, we can also make an emotional shift, to actually be willing to be vulnerable, to be truly seen and heard for who we really are. Firstly by ourselves, secondly by our teacher, and ultimately by an audience, and the significant people in our lives. John Coltrane was quoted as saying “You can play a shoe string if you’re sincere”. In other words, it won’t sound good, or touch the listener if you’re not willing to be vulnerable and show your true self. But if you embody a song with genuine emotion and tone, you will connect and share with, touch and move people.

Being a music graduate I’ve had a large array of music tuition from many tutors but this was my first vocal session, and was interesting and very enjoyable. I was very impressed by Hazel’s technical knowledge and the fact she managed to explain these aspects very clearly and demonstrate how they apply to the singing voice. Ed Hopwood, Drummer, Guitarist, Harmonica player and Singer Songwriter.

Hazel is an excellent teacher who is knowledgeable and experienced in her field. I have learnt a lot with her and found fun and pleasure in life from singing. She has improved my posture, my confidence, and I’ve learnt vocal techniques. This has been an enlightening and a worthwhile journey with results. Lisa Mac.

Hi Hazel, just a chance to send a message thanking you for your awesome lessons…they are opening up a whole new way of working with my breath and voice. I am really excited to see my development with your techniques…I also wanted to say how inspired I feel in your classes and that inspiration continues with my thoughts after the lesson. I feel the angels helped me by directing me to you. Thank you for your energy, Love & light, Mya, Singer Songwriter.

Hazel’s singing lessons have given me technical and friendly support, to progress in a short period of time to really enjoy singing and unlock my voice, which used to feel very blocked. It’s great to know that someone genuinely cares for my personal development, as many see it only as a financial matter. I have found a teacher whom I will continue to return. Many thanks Maria V from Brentford.

What to Expect:

  • In your singing and voice lessons we will analyse your voice, or performance as it is now, and explore what you’re happy with, what you’re not, and how I can help. Feel free to have some songs in mind that you’d like to work on (most I can find online) although this is optional, as I will also provide repertoire for you.

  • It is only natural and normal to feel nervous, but you will have privacy and my empathy for how personal your voice and singing feels.

  • Each session I will introduce singing exercises to build up a program for your vocal development, along with a range of songs to express your feelings. My students report that they find their classes deeply therapeutic.

  • Don’t worry about musical taste, genre, accent, or even language. Correct vocal technique is applicable to all styles of music, and will help anybody to enjoy a more confident speaking and singing voice.. It gives me great pleasure to help people to find their voice, and I look forward to meeting you and hearing yours very soon.
